When I was about 10 years old I remember asking a friend what colours her days of the week were. She replied, I told her mine, and that was the end of that.
I have since come to realise that either she was humouring me, conforming, or just by some huge coincidence I’d picked one of the few people who think like me.
Because of her normal reply to what seemed like a normal question, I thought that everyone had colours for the days of the week, and colours for all words in general. It was only when I was 19 and caught a documentary about it that I realised it had a name – synaesthesia – and that it was something of interest to people who didn’t have it.
I decided to start a blog about it because I want to find other synaesthetes, figure out WHY words, letters and numbers are colours, and explain exactly what I experience.
